South Australia is the driest State on the driest inhabited continent in the world, which doesn't make for a lot of great
swimming holes. Two places that I am aware of, but have not reported on because I have not yet visited personally, are the
man-made lake at Narracoorte near the Victorian border, and the upper reaches of the Onkaparinga River in the Adelaide Hills.
If you find yourself in Adelaide outside of summer, I have
compiled a list of the warmest public swimming pools in Adelaide
, so you can have a swim even on cold days.
If anyone would like to let me know about any swimming spots in South Australia that I should visit, feel free to
suggest a swimming hole
. A trip to the lower lakes and the Mount Lofty Ranges is on my to-do list.
More will be coming in time for the 2017/18 summer.
