Swimming Hole Heaven in Victoria
Your guide to the best swimming holes

Swimming Hole Heaven provides details of the best waterholes, lakes, rivers and waterfalls for swimming around the State of Victoria, Australia. It's a handy guide for swimming enthusiasts, outdoor lovers, day trippers and tourists alike. Feel free to browse the online version, which includes some (but not all) of my favourite spots, or order the full guide to get access to all of my top 50 swimming experiences in Victoria. Swimming Hole Heaven in Victoria My tips for spring include Lerderderg Gorge, as long as you get in early this year, and Lake Nillahcootie, which is a shallow, north facing lake in northern Victoria that tends to warm up earlier in the year than other lakes. On cooler spring days you can still enjoy some lazy bathing at Peninsula Hot Springs, or for those in Melbourne getting ready for summer, to find the warmest public pool near you, check out my list of water temperatures in Melbourne's public pools.

Swimming Holes in and around Melbourne These swimming holes are all within around an hour's drive from the city centre, including several spots along the Yarra River. I've also included a few iconic swimming pools and bathing options for the colder months of the year… Swimming Holes in North East Victoria The north east of Victoria has some invigorating swims, particularly in the many national parks in the area. North of the Great Dividing Range, the swimming season here is slightly longer than in Melbourne due to the warmer weather and more reliable water sources…
Swimming Holes in Gippsland (South East Victoria) There are swimming holes for all seasons in this part of Victoria, from the icy cold crystal clear waters of the high country in the summertime to the chillbusting warmth of a huge heated pond in the Latrobe Valley for winter… Swimming Holes in Western Victoria Some of Victoria's best waterfalls to swim under are located in western Victoria. My selection includes some spots in the Grampians and the Otways, as well as several waterfall-fed billabongs that are bounded by tall basalt columns… Waterfall Seasons of Victoria My companion website Waterfall Seasons of Victoria lists all of the waterfalls that I have visited during my search for swimming holes. You can swim at some of them, but most are just for viewing and admiring. Great for a day trip when it's too chilly to get into the water.

Before you head out, make sure to read the swimming safety information.
